When will my Green Dot account be closed and what action do I need to take?

If you received notice your Green Dot account program is ending on October 31, 2021, your Green Dot account will be closed, and your debit card will stop working on October 31, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. PST. You can continue to use your debit card to make purchases and ATM withdrawals until this date.

Any automatic payments you have set up with your Green Dot account will not be processed after October 31, 2021. When you open a new GO2bank account by activating the card you received in the mail by October 31, 2021, we will automatically send any unprocessed one-time payments and recurring bill payments from your new GO2bank account. If you do not to activate the card, you will need to update your bank account info with your biller or set up bill pay from another account.

Your Green Dot account will not accept deposits after October 31, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. PST. But when you open your new GO2bank account by activating the card you received in the mail by October 31, 2021, we will automatically forward any direct deposit you currently receive to your new GO2bank account. Otherwise, you will need to update your account information with your employer or benefits provider.

If you choose not to open a new GO2bank account, any money in your Green Dot account after October 31, 2021 will be mailed to you by check within 30 days to the address we have on file. What if I have pending transactions on my old account but want to transfer my account to a new GO2bank account?

If you transfer your Green Dot account to GO2bank by activating the card you received in the mail by October 31, 2021, any deposits, refunds, or charges to your previous Green Dot account after that account is closed will be posted to your new GO2bank account.

What will happen to any direct deposits to my Green Dot account after I open a GO2bank account?

Any direct deposits attempted to your Green Dot account after October 31, 2021 will be rejected. Therefore, we recommend opening a new GO2bank account by activating the GO2bank debit card you received in the mail by October 31, 2021, and we will automatically transfer your Green Dot direct deposits to your new GO2bank account. Or, if you choose not to open a GO2bank account, you will need to update your account information with your employer or benefits provider.

What will happen with any transactions that are still in the dispute process on my Green Dot account if I transfer that account to a GO2bank account?

If a dispute on your Green Dot account is resolved in your favor after you successfully transferred your account to a new GO2bank account, we will automatically move that credit to your new GO2bank account.

If a dispute results in a charge to your Green Dot account, your new GO2bank account will be debited for this charge.

Can I use the GO2bank card I received right away?

Yes, once you successfully activate the card you received and open your new GO2bank account by October 31, 2021, you can immediately use your GO2bank debit card everywhere Visa® debit is accepted in the U.S.

What should I do if I no longer have my GO2bank card to activate?

If you have questions about the GO2bank card you received in the mail or if you no longer have the card, please call (866) 795-7597 for assistance.

Will I have to update my direct deposit info with my employer or benefits provider?

Any direct deposits set up on your Green Dot account will automatically be transferred to your new GO2bank account as long as you activate the GO2bank debit card you received in the mail by October 31, 2021. While this direct deposit transfer will happen automatically to help your transition to GO2bank, you can also find your new GO2bank account and routing numbers by logging in to your account at GO2bank.com/directdeposit. Provide this account info directly to your employer or benefits provider to update your direct deposit.

How will I know if all of my bill pay accounts and recurring payments successfully transferred to my new GO2bank account?

Any bill pay accounts and recurring payments being transferred to your new GO2bank account will be displayed during the GO2bank card activation process. You can also log in to your new GO2bank account in the GO2bank app and visit the Bill pay section to confirm everything transferred as expected.

What if I choose not to activate the GO2bank card I received in the mail?

If you do not activate the GO2bank card you received in the mail by October 31, 2021, your Green Dot account will be closed on that date. You can continue to use your Green Dot debit card up to that date to make purchases and ATM withdrawals or to make deposits on the account. Any money remaining on the account after October 31, 2021 will be mailed to you by check within 30 days to the address we have on file.
