What is Apple Pay?

Apple Pay lets you make secure, easy, and private in-store and in-app purchases at participating retailers using your Apple devices. Instead of using your actual card number, Apple Pay creates a unique device-specific number, encrypting and storing it in the Secure Element, a dedicated chip in your device. When you make a purchase, a distinctive transaction code and device-specific number are used to process the payment. Your actual card number is never shared with merchants or transmitted with your payment.
