What does it mean for my Experian credit file to be unlocked?

If your file is unlocked, banks or lenders may access it if you, or someone who claims to be you, applies for a loan or credit in your name.
Any company with a legal right, including new or existing creditors wishing to review your file or extend you credit, may access your file if it's unlocked.
